Nabil Bentaleb will become a Schalke player on a permanent basis at the end of his season-long loan from Tottenham.
The 22-year-old Algerian midfielder was allowed to move to the Bundesliga side last August after dropping out of Mauricio Pochettino's plans at White Hart Lane.
He has performed strongly in Germany, adding a goalscoring element to his game that was absent at Tottenham by netting five times already.
Schalke stated the deal would run until 2021. The fee involved is undisclosed, with Bentaleb leaving Tottenham after 66 appearances and one goal.
Tottenham said in a statement: "We have reached agreement with FC Schalke 04 for the permanent transfer of Nabil Bentaleb this summer."
Bentaleb told Schalke's website: "When I came to Schalke in the summer, my aim was to play as much as possible and persuade the club to make the transfer permanent.
"Things have worked out brilliantly and I am thrilled.
"It is great to have the feeling that you are trusted by the club: the coaching staff, my team-mates, the higher-ups and everyone here have made it really easy to feel at home at S04. I am very happy to be a part of this team."
