German club sign second Spaniard of summer

Schalke have continued to make additions to their squad by announcing the signing of Spain Under-21 international Sergio Escudero. The left-back has moved from relegated Real Murcia to the Bundesliga side for an undisclosed fee which is believed to be around £2million on a four-year deal. The talented defender had also reportedly received interest from Ajax, Dynamo Moscow and Anderlecht, however Schalke have flexed their muscles in the transfer market once again. The 20-year-old now joins Spanish legend Raul and German international Christoph Metzelder at the club, who have both arrived from Real Madrid. "I am delighted to have signed. I am looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and have the desire to gain a foothold at this club as soon as possible," Escudero told the club's official website. "Most important for me to decide in favour of FC Schalke 04 were the ambitions of the club as much as the untiring efforts of the authorities to make this transfer happen."
