Bremen insist boss will not walk

Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has refuted claims that manager Thomas Schaaf has offered his resignation. Reports have suggested that the under-fire boss has offered to relinquish the reins following a disappointing start to the season. Bremen have taken just 15 points from 13 games and sit 12th in the Bundesliga standings. They have gone four games without a win and look a long way short of the side that secured UEFA Champions League qualification last term. Those failings have fuelled the speculation surrounding Schaaf's future, but Allofs insists Bremen have no plans to introduce managerial changes. "There has been no offer to quit," he told Deutsche Presseagentur.

Untrue

"There has been no threat to quit or anything like that in any team talk. "Reports that are suggesting that this is the case are untrue. That is all I have to say on this. "Thomas Schaaf is our manager and he is under contract with our club." Schaaf is a Bremen legend, having spent his entire playing and coaching career with the club. He has been in charge at Weserstadion since May 1999 and is currently contracted until June 2012.
