Walch signs three-year contract at Fritz-Walter-Stadion

Bundesliga new-boys Kaiserslautern have continued their summer signing spree with the arrival of Austria international Clemens Walch from the reserve side of German rivals Stuttgart. The midfielder, 23, has signed a three-year contract at Fritz-Walter-Stadion after the two clubs agreed on a nominal fee and he becomes Kaiserslautern's 11th acquisition of the close season. Kaiserslautern manager Marco Kurz believes that Walch possesses plenty of potential as his side aim to avoid an immediate return to Bundesliga 2 after last term's promotion. Kurz told his club's official website ahead of their first game of the new campaign at Cologne on Saturday: "Clemens Walch is regarded by us as a young and promising player. "We want to help him exhaust his talent and get a grip on playing in the top division." Walch said: "I am over the moon. I am convinced this move will help me in making a good step forward. "I have spoken with the manager and get the impression he is keen on working with me. The rest will be up to me and I am going to do my very best." Walch signed for Stuttgart two years ago after leaving the youth set-up of Red Bull Salzburg, but he only managed two appearances in the Bundesliga.
