Bayern Munich goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt has signed a one-year contract extension at the Allianz Arena.
Lahm also happy at Allianz Arena and wants Ribery to stay
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt has signed a one-year contract extension at the Allianz Arena ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match with Fiorentina.
The 35-year-old, who joined the German giants one-and-a-half years ago, is now tied to the club until June 2011 as manager Louis van Gaal was eager to retain his services.
Butt was initially signed from Benfica as back-up to Michael Rensing, but Van Gaal has preferred to select the veteran ahead of the 25-year-old this season.
The one-time Champions League finalist with former club Bayer Leverkusen will now concentrate on Bayern's last-16 meeting with Fiorentina in this season's competition.
Butt said: "I am very happy at Bayern and I am looking forward to continuing my successful time in Munich."
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club's
official website: "We are very happy with Jorg's performances and we are pleased that Bayern will be able to call on him for a further season."
Off the cards
Meanwhile, full-back Philipp Lahm insists he is happy in Germany after rumours suggested a frustration with Bayern's early season struggles would lead to a move to Barcelona.
The Germany international told
Kicker: "In terms of myself, anything with regards to Barcelona is off the cards.
"We are now on the track that I wanted us to be on. Bayern is my club."
Lahm also hopes that Bayern's improved performances may result in Franck Ribery deciding to resist the temptations of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Ribery's contract expires in the summer of 2011 and Lahm said on the subject: "If he desperately wants to leave, the club needs to let him leave."
He added: "But Louis van Gaal has got some structure in the squad. He has restored order. This is why I am confident the Franck is going to stay on with us."
