Croatian cautious over Bayern's chances at Old Trafford
Bayern Munich forward Ivica Olic believes he proved his critics wrong with the winning goal against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.
The 30-year-old Croatia international earned his club a 2-1 first-leg win at the Allianz Arena as Louis van Gaal's team came from a goal down in the quarter-final.
Olic settled the contest with an injury-time winner, having made a rare start-to-finish appearance for Bayern, and he believes he proved he is a man for the big occasion.
"This is by far the biggest goal in my career," he told
Sportske Novosti. "I can't remember when I was as happy.
Happy
"My happiness is even greater because I showed some of the German journalists that I'm not a player for small games, as they have been saying.
"This is not true. I have scored before in big games and I believe that I don't have to prove anything to anybody anymore."
Olic was also pleased to play the entire match, but he remains cautious regarding Bayern's chances of eliminating United ahead of next Wednesday's second leg in England.
"Of course I am also happy that Van Gaal gave me a whole 90 minutes and I repaid him with a goal," he said.
"But we are not in the semi-finals yet. We will have to work hard at Old Trafford."
