Bavarians missing Croat and winger Robben
Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal has been dealt a blow on the eve of the Bundesliga campaign after Ivica Olic was ruled out for a lengthy spell.
Van Gaal confirmed that the striker would be missing with a knee injury he sustained while on duty with Croatia in last week's friendly against Slovakia.
It means the 30-year-old will miss Bayern's opening day clash with Wolfsburg on Friday and joins injured centre-back Breno on the sidelines.
Van Gaal will also be missing winger Arjen Robben until October after he picked up a hamstring injury.
"It's a nasty diagnosis," said Van Gaal of Olic's injury.
"The doctor has decided on a conservative course of treatment, so there won't be an operation, but that always takes a long time."
Robben has been granted special leave away from the Bavarians and he will be away from Munich for two weeks.
Van Gaal added: "Our chief medical officer, Dr Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt, has sent him on vacation.
"That will give him peace and quiet. I hope he will be able to resume training after that."
