Schalke beaten; Bayern thrash Frankfurt; Hamburg dispose of Stuttgart
Leaders Borussia Dortmund romped to another win, while Kaiserslautern demolished Schalke at home and Bayern Munich comfortably saw off Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hamburg enjoyed a commanding victory over Stuttgart, while Hannover beat Freiburg and Hoffenheim held Bayern Leverkusen.
Borussia Dortmund stretched their lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a commanding 4-1 triumph at home to lowly
Borussia Monchengladbach.
Top met bottom in Saturday's late game and high-flying Dortmund came away with the three points to pile more woe on their visitors.
Surprise
The hosts, now seven points clear of second-placed Mainz, went behind early on after Marco Reus notched a surprise first-half goal for Monchengladbach.
But the visitors' lead was short-lived as Neven Subotic levelled things up before half time, while Shinji Kagawa, Kevin Grobkreutz and Lucas Barrios sealed the emphatic victory after the break.
Srdan Lakic netted a brace to inspire
Kaiserslautern's 5-0 demolition of struggling
Schalke.
The Croatian striker found the back of the net either side of the break to complement further goals from defender Martin Amedick, Ivo Ilicevic and Jan Moravek.
The commanding triumph provides a welcome boost to Kaiserslautern but keeps floundering Schalke teetering on the brink of the relegation places.
Bayer Leverkusen were close to causing an upset but were ultimately held 2-2 at
Hoffenheim.
Leverkusen, unbeaten in five league games, were unable to grab the three-point haul despite enjoying a storming start when Sidney Sam fired home in just the eighth minute.
Arturo Vidal converted a penalty two minutes later, but the hosts produced a solid comeback after the break, with Gylfi Sigurdsson finding the all-important equaliser with a 90th minute penalty.
Hamburg secured their first win in three games with a decisive 4-2 home triumph over 10-man
Stuttgart.
The hosts notched three goals before half-time courtesy of Piotr Trochowski, Jonathan Pitroipa and Mladen Petric.
And the struggling visitors, hampered by goalscorer Ciprian Marica's dismissal in the 16th minute, were overpowered as Ruud van Nistelrooy's 60th minute strike rendered Christian Gentner's second-half goal no more than a consolation.
Impressive
An impressive second-half display saw reigning champions
Bayern Munich romp to a 4-1 win over
Eintracht Frankfurt to leapfrog their visitors in the standings.
The two sides were on an even footing at the break following goals from Anatoliy Tymoshchuk for the hosts and Theofanis Gekas for Frankfurt.
However, second-half strikes from Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez in the space of three minutes and a late second goal from Tymoshchuk sealed the victory for the home side.
Hannover maintained their top four spot with a commanding 3-0 home success over
Freiburg.
The visitors had no answer as Jan Schlaudraff set the tone with the opener in the 15th minute before Didier Konan and Mike Hanke added the insurance after half-time.
In Saturday's late game, top meets bottom as leaders
Borussia Dortmund take on rock bottom
Borussia Monchengladbach.
