Japanese rising star Takashi Usami has agreed a six-month loan move to German giants Bayern Munich.
Teenager has warning for Robben and Ribery
Japanese rising star Takashi Usami has warned Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery that he wants to take their place in the Bayern Munich team after agreeing a loan move to Germany.
The tricky dribbler will arrive at the Bundesliga club in July to start a six-month switch from J-League club Gamba Osaka.
Bayern have been in negotiations to sign Usami for the majority of the summer and the 19-year-old has huge potential.
He is also not short on confidence and has told Bayern's established heroes, such as Robben and Ribery, that he is not prepared to settle for a place among the substitutes.
Big challenge
Usami told a news conference when asked about Bayern's current first-team players: "I want to improve my skills to the point I can take their places from them."
Having been called up to Japan's senior squad for the first time in May, Usami is expected to make his move to Bayern permanent after the end of his loan.
"I was worried about leaving the team during the (Japanese) season but chances like this don't come along every day," he said.
"I decided it was the right thing to do to take on this big challenge. To be honest, it still hasn't sunk in."
He added: "It's such a surprise to imagine playing in such a big league with such great players."
