Bayern ace not worried by long-term future, Beckenbauer critical
Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has assured fans not to worry about his long-term future with the Bavarian giants, although club great Franz Beckenbauer has criticised his individual goal celebrations.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea man is currently contracted to the Allianz Arena club until the summer of 2013.
Bayern are interested in retaining the 28-year-old beyond that period and Robben insists supporters need not worry by a lack of progress over talks.
"For me things are looking pretty fine," Robben told
Bayern-Magazin. "Supporters do not need to feel nervous about me staying or not.
"However, I've experienced in my career that some issues can turn around quite quickly. That you're then playing elsewhere, regardless of your original contractual situation."
Critical
However, Beckenbauer has criticised Robben's 'selfish' play, highlighting the fact he does not celebrate his goals with his team-mates.
The club legend believes Bayern's players could grow tiresome of the winger's celebrations if he does not begin to thank them for their contribution.
"He has played away some of his recognition. He is selfish like so many others," Beckenbauer told
Sky.
"His reaction alone to when he has a good effort or scores a goal; he does not run towards the player who set him up to score but instead he runs towards his family in the stands. He lets the team run after him.
"At some point the team mate will say 'if you are not going to recognise my pass then next time you can come and get the ball yourself'."
