Colombian starlet links up with Bundesliga outfit

Bayer Leverkusen have signed Colombia U20 international Michael Ortega on a one-year loan deal. The South American moves to Germany from Mexican outfit Atlas Guadalajara. The agreement includes the option for a permanent deal to be struck at the end of the initial loan spell. Leverkusen believe they have landed a player of considerable promise and expect him to shine in the Bundesliga this season.

Impressed

Club executive Wolfgang Holzhauser told Deutsche Presseagentur: "Michael Ortega has been impressive during the recent Fifa U20 World Cup, he certainly impressed us. "We feel he is a big talent. We are happy to have signed him on a deal that will be a loan at first." Ortega is contracted to Atlas until 2013, having joined the club from Deportivo Cali in the summer of 2010. He is, however, on his way to Europe and will be hoping to earn a prolonged stay at Leverkusen.
