Hannover land Yankov

Bundesliga outfit Hannover have signed Bulgaria international Chavdar Yankov.

The Reds agreed a one-year loan deal for the 21-year-old Slavia Sofia midfielder on Sunday and have the option to buy him should he impress at the AWD Arena in the coming season.

Yankov, who is regarded as one of the top talents in Bulgarian football, was reportedly a transfer target for several European clubs including Marseille, Fiorentina and Espanyol.

''We are delighted that we have managed to beat renowned European competition to his signature and are now hoping to offer the player a springboard for the European football stage,'' said Hannover general manager Ilja Kaenzig.

Yankov is the fifth new face at the AWD Arena for the coming season following German international striker Thomas Brdaric (Wolfsburg), Vahid Hashemian (Bayern Munich), Michael Delura (Schalke) and Hanno Balitsch (Mainz).
