Ebbers goal secures away victory

St Pauli climbed into the top half of the Bundesliga table with a 1-0 victory away to high-flying Hannover. Hannover went into the game with a chance to move second ahead of the rest of the weekend's games, but came unstuck against their newly-promoted opponents. The crucial moment arrived after just six minutes when Marius Ebbers headed home from Bastian Oczipka's cross. Hannover were unable to find an equaliser and their hopes were dealt a further blow with ten minutes remaining when Karim Haggui was sent off. Having an extra man for the closing stages allowed St Pauli to see out the game and claim a crucial three points.
