Hannover's pre-season preparations have been dealt a blow with Didier Ya Konan picking up an injury.

Striker sidelined for pre-season due to hamstring injury

Hannover's pre-season preparations have been dealt a blow with Didier Ya Konan picking up an injury. The Bundesliga club confirmed on Friday that the 27-year-old striker has suffered a torn hamstring. The Europa League qualifiers are holding a nine-day training camp in the Austrian town of Bad Radkersburg. But their Ivory Coast international will stay behind to receive treatment and begin his recovery.

In good hands

"For us and the player, this diagnosis is of course a huge disappointment," said coach Mirko Slomka. "But we know Didier is in good hands and can start his intensive rehabilitation care." Ya Konan was the club's top scorer last season, claiming 14 goals in 28 games to help Hannover finish fourth in the Bundesliga table and book a place in Europe. Slomka's side begin the new campaign at home to Hoffenheim on August 6.
