Nurnberg defender replaces City recruit Boateng

Hamburg have brought in a replacement for Jerome Boateng after signing Nurnberg defender Dennis Diekmeier. The 20-year-old right-back has signed a four-year deal with Hamburg, who lost Boateng to Manchester City this summer. Hamburg have reportedly splashed out around €2.5million (£2.1m) for Diekmeier, a move that has pleased manager Armin Veh. Veh has labelled the youngster one of the country's brightest talents and believes his pace will be a useful asset. "We are very happy that we have managed to sign Dennis Diekmeier," Veh told the club's official website. "He's one of the biggest German talents around and he's extremely fast - there are few players around with his kind of pace. "He is also capable of sending in some dangerous crosses and I'm confident he'll be important for the team."
