Madsen deal approved by Fifa

PETER MADSEN has been cleared to play for VfL Bochum after Fifa had finally approved the transfer of the Danish international.

The striker had completely failed to settle at VfL Wolfsburg since he joined from Brondby at the end of 2002 and The Wolves had sent Madsen home to Denmark, insisting that the player had only been on loan with them.

Brondby vehemently claimed that Madsen had been sold to Wolfsburg and refused to take the player back, before Bochum rescued the player by making an offer for him as they were looking for a replacement for top-scorer Thomas Christiansen, who left for Hannover 96.

Generally Fifa's transfer guidelines suggest that players can only change clubs once per season, but in this case the world's governing football body has sanctioned Madsen's move to Bochum.

The player will now by cleared to represent Peter Neururer's team in the first Bundesliga game, which, ironically, takes place in Wolfsburg on August 2.

"I am keen to prove the people there that they made a mistake in letting me go," claimed Madsen.
