Borussia battered as Hannover run riot

Borussia Monchengladbach were given a rude awakening to life back in the Bundesliga as the newly promoted club were thumped 5-1 by Hannover, while Bochum were grateful for the points against Arminia Bielefeld. Szabolcs Huszti and Jan Schlaudraff both scored twice as home side Hannover ran riot against a badly out-of-sorts Monchengladbach. Huszti also had the luxury of missing a 28th-minute penalty, as his effort was easily repelled by Borussia goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth. It was Huszti that set the ball rolling in the 32nd minute, before Schlaudraff scored either side of half-time. Huszti's second and Mikael Forssell's late effort rendered Rob Friend's goal the scantest of consolations for Borussia. Sunday's only other game saw Bochum record their first win of the season as they beat Arminia Bielefeld 2-0. First-half goals from Marcin Mieciel and Marc Pfertzel gave the home side an advantage they never looked like squandering after the interval.
