Feyenoord remain top of the Eredivisie after a 2-0 victory at Willem II preserved their 100 per cent start to the season.

Nicolai Jorgensen's strike early in the first half and a second goal from Renato Tapia in the 76th minute extended Feyenoord's perfect record in the league to eight wins from as many matches and saw them stretch their lead at the summit to five points.

Ajax are now their closest rivals after they recorded a fifth straight league win against FC Utrecht in Amsterdam.

Kevin Conboy gave the visitors a surprise half-time lead but Ramon Leeuwin's own goal, a Lasse Schone penalty and a strike by Hakim Ziyech ensured all three points for Ajax.

Mark van der Maarel reduced Utrecht's deficit to a single goal late on but they fell to a 3-2 defeat.

A Mateusz Klich penalty put FC Twente ahead at Heracles Almelo but the hosts replied quickly through Samuel Armenteros' 42nd-minute effort to earn a 1-1 draw.

It was also 1-1 in the late game between Sparta Rotterdam and AZ Alkmaar as Michel Breuer struck just before the break to cancel out Guus Til's early opening goal for the visitors.
