PSV Eindhoven closed on the Eredivisie leaders with a 3-1 win over ADO Den Haag at Philips Stadion.

Gaston Pereiro put the hosts ahead from the spot on 12 minutes.

PSV captain Luuk de Jong, who had been on the bench for the midweek Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid, flicked in a near-post header five minutes into the second half, which took a deflection off Den Haag centre-back Tom Beugelsdijk.

And De Jong added a third on 55 minutes after being played into the right side of the penalty area.

Beugelsdijk reduced the arrears from the spot in the 57th minute, but PSV closed out victory to move within a point of Ajax and three of Feyenoord, who both play on Sunday.

Groningen romped to a 4-0 win at PEC Zwolle.

Swedish midfielder Simon Tibbling got the visitors off to a flying start in the first minute, with forward Tom van Weert adding a second six minutes before half-time.

Vitesse Arnhem recovered from 2-0 down to draw against Excelsior at GelreDome.

Two goals from midfielder Hicham Faik inside the opening 14 minutes put the visitors in control.

However, Ricky van Wolfswinkel reduced the deficit from the penalty spot on 25 minutes, before Moroccan winger Adnane Tighadouini equalised with 17 minutes to go after a swift counterattack down the right.

Jay-Roy Grot scored twice to give NEC Nijmegen a first Eredivisie win since the start of October as they beat FC Twente 3-2 at the Goffertstadion.

The forward gave NEC the lead on 27 minutes with a low finish into the bottom right corner following a quick break and added another nine minutes later with a deflected strike at the near post.

Enes Unal, on loan from Manchester City, pulled a goal back from close range on 51 minutes, but defender Dario Dumic restored NEC's two-goal advantage eight minutes later with a low shot into the corner from the edge of the box.

Twente set up a tense finale with 11 minutes to go when Mikael Dyrestam was adjudged to have scored an own goal, when it was not clear if the ball had gone over the line, but NEC held out.
