Steven Berghuis struck twice as Feyenoord moved six points clear at the top of Eredivisie after their 3-1 victory over Vitesse at De Kuip.

An error from Kelvin Leerdam saw Eljero Elia dispossess the Vitesse right-back before slotting past Eloy Room to put the league leaders in front inside 15 minutes.

But a sublime volley from Adnane Tighadouini drew Vitesse level nine minutes later. Elia turned provider as his floated cross was headed home by Berghuis just before half-time.

Berghuis added a third in the 57th minute to earn Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side their third league win in a row.

AZ Alkmaar claimed a 2-1 win at FC Twente as the two met at De Grolsch Veste.

Wout Weghorst got on the end of Alireza Jahanbakhsh's through ball to slot past Nick Marsman for his ninth goal of the season.

Manchester City loanee Enes Unal equalised for the hosts after 68 minutes but Peet Bijen's own goal helped AZ bounce back from their heavy defeat against Feyenoord.
