PEC Zwolle came from behind to beat early Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven 3-1 and move up to second in the table.
PSV led through Luuk de Jong's 32nd-minute penalty but the hosts regrouped and Jesper Drost had them level four minutes before half-time.
Joost Broerse then put them in front 20 minutes into the second half and a late goal from Ben Rienstra sealed a win which puts PEC level on points with PSV - with both sides have 12 points from their opening five matches.
Heerenveen are up to third after winning 1-0 at AZ Alkmaar, who are still without coach Marco van Basten amid reports that his health problems could force him to step down permanently.
Daley Sinkgraven got the only goal of the game in the 38th minute to give Heerenveen their third win of the season.
However, it was a third defeat of the campaign for AZ, with an announcement expected in the coming days on the future of Van Basten.
A first-half brace from Arkadiusz Milik helped Ajax to a 2-1 win over Heracles Almelo, who got a late consolation goal from Wouter Weghorst.
After starting the season with four draws FC Twente were finally able to celebrate victory, beating Go Ahead Eagles 2-1.
Luc Castaignos saw his fourth-minute opener cancelled out by Marnix Kolder, but Jesus Corona scored what proved to be the winner in the 31st minute.
Feyenoord's woes continued with a 2-1 home defeat against Willem II.
The Rotterdam side, who have only three points to their name after five games, trailed early on with Frank ver der Struijk opening the scoring in the eighth minute before Samuel Armenteros doubled their lead midway through the first half.
Colin Kazim-Richards pulled one back for the hosts 15 minutes from time, but they slipped to defeat once again.
