AZ forced to sell striker to ease financial worries
Skysports.com understands cash-strapped AZ Alkmaar have struck a deal to sell Brazilian striker Ari to Spartak Moscow.
AZ's finances are in dire straights after owner Dirk Scheringa's company, who are also the club's main sponsors, went bankrupt at the tail end of last year.
This has meant the Dutch champions have been helpless but to offload some of their prized assets and right-back Sebastien Pocognoli has already left the club for Standard Liege.
And after scoring nine league goals in seven appearances this season, Ari looks set to be the latest player to leave the DSB stadium after Spartak tabled an offer for the 24-year-old.
The Russian outfit were linked with Tottenham's out-of-favour striker Roman Pavlyuchenko earlier in the transfer window, but they look set to land the Brazilian hot-shot who only joined AZ last season.
It is believed Ari has already agreed personal terms on a switch to the Russian capital and the move now hinges on him passing a medical.
AZ are well off the pace in the Eredivisie title race this season and are currently 14 points off top spot in eighth position.
Belgium boss Dick Advocaat is currently in charge of the club on an interim basis after replacing Ronald Koeman in December.
