Ajax let Hellings go

The 17-year-old was offered a professional contract by the Amsterdam side last term, but has not had a chance to stake a claim for a place in the first team and has decided to move on.

Ajax coach Ronald Koeman (pictured) was happy for the youngster to leave the Amsterdam ArenA, and terms were quickly agreed once the Belgian champions made their interest known.

A five-year contract is in place, and will run from October 11, 2002 - when the youngster turns 18.

Hellings came through the ranks of the famed Ajax youth system, and has gained international recognition for Holland at junior level.
