Ajax row continues as club legend opens legal action
Johan Cruyff and 10 Ajax coaches have opened legal proceedings against four members of the Eredivisie club's supervisory board.
The action comes after the board reportedly appointed Louis van Gaal, Danny Blind and Martin Sturkenboom as directors without informing Cruyff first.
The Ajax legend, who is the fifth member of a divided supervisory board, has instigated legal action against Edgar Davids, Steven ten Have, Paul Romer and Marjan Olfers.
Cruyff attended an injunction hearing at a Haarlem court on Wednesday alongside former players Wim Jonk, Marc Overmars and Jaap Stam, who are among the 10 coaches supporting the former Ajax and Barcelona coach.
Battle
The Dutchman insisted last week that the battle is not about personal issues between him and Van Gaal.
"People who say it's about power know nothing," he said.
"My generation should step into the background and make room for a new and ambitious group of people that will take Ajax back to the summit.
"It should not be that people like myself or Van Gaal take the reins."
