Tim Matavz set PSV on their way with the opener just past the half hour mark, but they had to wait until late on to secure the victory. Dries Mertens doubled the lead for the home side on 76 minutes, but Mike Havenaar set up a tense finale when pulled one back for Vitesse seven minutes from time.
