Former Liverpool winger Dirk Kuyt scored a hat-trick as Feyenoord secured the Eredivisie title.

The club's captain secured Feyenoord's first title in 18 years, giving his team a 2-0 half-time lead at De Kuip before completing his hat-trick late on.

The former Liverpool and Fenerbahce forward, in his second spell at the Rotterdam-based club, broke the deadlock in the first minute. It was the Netherlands international's 100th Feyenoord goal. Strike number 101 followed after 12 minutes as any pre-match nerves were settled early on.

Fireworks saw the celebrations start early for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team before Kuyt scored a third from the penalty spot.

Peter van Ooijen replied with a consolation for Heracles but that would not stop Feyenoord from lifting their 15th league title, finishing just a single point above Europa League finalists Ajax.

Kuyt's team-mate Brad Jones, who he also played alongside at Liverpool, is Feyenoord's first choice goalkeeper. He joined Kuyt in picking up an Eredivisie winners' medal.
