Hitman resumes training after lengthy injury lay-off
Feyenoord striker Sekou Cisse returned to full training on Thursday, but will not recover from injury in time for the last game of the season.
The Ivorian hitman has been sidelined for almost eight months with a lingering foot problem, featuring for the Rotterdam club just once this season, against NAC Breda last September.
Sunday's concluding clash of the campaign against NEC will come too soon for Cisse, but the 25-year-old was pleased to take an important step in his rehabilitation by resuming training, and is already focused on next term.
"I am very happy that I've made this step," He told
Voetbal Primeur.
"The medical staff decided I should return as a way to reconnect to me (with the team).
"I felt good and sometimes you dare to take action. I'm very happy with how the training went."
Focused
He added: "I'm entirely focused on next season. For me, the important thing is to get on my feet again.
"Playing against NEC is not an option, even now I'm back training with the group.
"But training is a real boost towards next season."
Cisse admits he must work on his physical strength ahead of the new season, adding: "I have to become stronger.
"I found myself tired at the end of training with the group."
