Coach shown the door after poor season
FC Utrecht have parted ways with head coach Ton du Chatinier following a disappointing campaign.
The Eredivisie club were targeting a place in Europe this season but a string of poor performances after the winter break limited them to a ninth-placed finish.
Du Chatinier took over as Utrecht coach in October 2008 and guided them to Europa League football last term, but has failed to live up to expectations since.
Utrecht's sporting director Foeke Booy told the club's
official website: "Ton accepted the position as head coach two years ago in very difficult circumstances and deserves a lot of respect for that.
"It's a shame that our collaboration comes to an end like this, but we did not see any foundation to continue working together."
Speculation has surfaced that former Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman is the leading candidate to step in as Du Chatinier's successor at the Stadion Galgenwaard.
