In the wake of Swansea's victory over Reading, skysports.com takes a look back at some other memorable matches from the play-off finals

Swansea and Reading served up a cracker at Wembley on Monday, with the Welsh side prevailing to book a place in the Premier League. And in the wake of the Swans' 4-2 win, skysports.com looks at five other play-off final classics.

Charlton 4 Sunderland 4, 1998 (Charlton won 7-6 on penalties)

Charlton striker Clive Mendonca, a Sunderland fan as a boy, scored the first hat-trick in a play-off final, after they went behind three times. Richard Rufus got their other goal, while the Wearsiders' goals came from Niall Quinn (two), Kevin Phillips and Nicky Summerbee. After 12 converted penalties, Michael Gray's weak spot-kick was saved by Sasa Ilic and the South London side booked their place in the top flight.

Swindon 4 Leicester 3, 1993

Goals from player-manager Glenn Hoddle, Craig Maskell and John Moncur had Swindon 3-0 up early in the second half. However, Julian Joachim, Steve Walsh and Steve Thompson netted in the space of 12 minutes to level the scores - only for Paul Bodin to convert a contentious penalty six minutes from the end and lift Swindon into the Premier League.

Bolton 4 Reading 3, 1995

Reading finished second but had to enter the play-offs due to the downsizing of the Premier League. Little over 10 minutes had passed before they had asserted their superiority with a two-goal lead before a stroll towards promotion hit a rough patch. Reading wasted a chance from the penalty spot for 3-0 before Owen Coyle scored with 15 minutes left and the tension set in. Fabian de Freitas forced extra-time with minutes left on the clock and put Bolton ahead before Mixu Paatelainen completed the Bolton scoring. Reading did pull one back but it was Bolton's day.

Blackpool 3 Cardiff 2, 2010

Cardiff twice led through Michael Chopra and Joe Ledley but Blackpool hit back on each occasion with goals from Charlie Adam and Gary Taylor-Fletcher. Brett Ormerod got the winner early in the second half.

Ipswich 4 Barnsley 2, 2000

Goalkeeper Richard Wright's own goal gifted Barnsley the lead. However, Ipswich bounced back from their early disappointment to lead the game 3-1 with goals coming from Tony Mowbray, Richard Naylor and Marcus Stewart. Barnsley got a goal back through Craig Hignett - but Martijn Reuser's effort made the game safe.
