Former Wigan hot-shot to have medical at Premier League side
Amr Zaki will undergo a medical at an unnamed Premier League club on Saturday, ahead of a loan move until the end of the season.
The Egypt international spent last season on loan at Wigan, netting 11 goals but enduring mixed fortunes during his time with the club.
He then went back to parent club Zamalek but looks set to return to the English top flight with an unnamed club.
A statement on the player's
official website said Zaki is set to fly into England this weekend.
It added: "The Egypt striker will move on loan until the end of the season subject to passing a medical test.
"Zaky had a meeting along side his agent with the Zamalek board and they agreed to let the player fly to England to undergo the medical test."
The powerful forward made a bright start to the 2008/09 campaign with Wigan, leading to reports that some of Europe's top clubs were tracking his progress.
But a mid-season slump in form and a public falling out with manager Steve Bruce damaged his profile.
He returned to Zamalek after the Latics declined to make his loan switch permanent, with Portsmouth then linked to the 26-year-old this summer.
