Former Barca boss wants coaching role in England or Italy
Frank Rijkaard's agent Perry Overeem has denied the former Dutch manager will take over as the new national coach of Chile following the resignation of Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa, nicknamed 'Madman', vacated his role after three successful years in which he masterminded automatic qualification to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa before their second round exit to Brazil.
Chilean fans had previously campaigned for Bielsa to remain in charge of the national team, however, the Argentine left his job following the election of Jorge Segovia as the president of the Chilean FA.
Rijkaard was sacked by Galatasaray last month and has been linked with the role with Chile FA (ANFP) vice-president elect Antonio Martinez saying: "It is an alternative, like many others that we are evaluating."
But Rijkaard's agent Overeem has dismissed the reports, revealing the former Barcelona boss has had interest from Italy and the Premier League.
"I have not received any call from Chile or from that side of the world," Overeem told
El Mercurio.
"The story is nothing but a rumour.
"For now he is in a period of rest and he has already had offers from clubs.
"He wants to choose major European football teams in the Premier League or Calcio."
