Mohamed bin Hammam has accused Fifa president Sepp Blatter of running a dictatorship.

Banned Qatari hits back at Fifa president

Mohamed bin Hammam, who has been handed a lifetime ban from football, has accused Fifa president Sepp Blatter of running a dictatorship. The Qatari, formerly a prominent member of world football's governing body, is furious at the sanctions which have been imposed upon him. He was found guilty by Fifa's ethics committee of bribery and is now barred from taking any role within the game. Bin Hammam, who had planned to stand against Blatter in the presidential elections before the bribery claims emerged, believes Fifa's decision to punish him is an act of 'revenge'.

Allegation

He insists he has done nothing wrong and plans to take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, as he attempts to see his suspension lifted and his name cleared. For now, though, Bin Hammam can only speculate on what he believes has conspired and give his personal opinion on Blatter's Fifa empire. He told Sky News: "You have witnessed, through history, the dictators when they think that a person is prominent to replace him, the first thing they do is execute him. "They try to fabricate any allegation against him, to jail him or something like that."
