Former England manager shows his gratitude following resignation

Fabio Capello has issued a vote of thanks to all involved during his time as England manager and wishes them 'every success' for the future. The Italian announced his resignation from the role on Wednesday following a meeting at Wembley Stadium with Football Association officials. Despite remaining silent on the reasons behind his departure Capello expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in his reign. "I would like to thank all players, staff and Football Association for the professionalism they have shown during my years as manager of the English National Team," he said.

Thanks

"A very special thanks to all the supporters; they've always supported the team and me in our job. "I wish all of them every success in achieving all their sporting goals." The 65-year-old made the decision to vacant the England manager's job shortly after publically expressing his disappointment at the FA decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy. Capello spoke to the Italian media over the weekend and made his feelings clear on the subject saying that he disagreed with the move to remove the captaincy from Terry, who is awaiting trial on charges of racial abuse.
