Fara Williams named in England women's squad for SheBelieves Cup

Fara Williams of England celebrates with team mate Steph Houghton

Fara Williams could become the first-ever England player to reach 150 international appearances, after being named in the squad for the inaugural SheBelieves Cup in the United States.

Chelsea's Eni Aluko could also be set to earn her 100th cap, after being named in head coach Mark Sampson's 23-player squad for next month's tournament.

Williams, England's most capped player of all-time, is currently on 148 caps while striker Aluko is on 98.

England will open the four-team tournament against the hosts and Women's World Cup holders USA in Tampa, Florida on Friday, March 4.

They then travel to Nashville to take on European champions Germany on Sunday, March 6 and finish against France in Boca Raton, Florida on Wednesday, March 9.

Claire Rafferty returns to the national setup after missing November's matches against Germany and Bosnia-Herzegovina through injury.

Rafferty's Chelsea team-mates Karen Carney and Katie Chapman have also earned recalls from Sampson, having not featured for England since last summer's third-placed finish at the World Cup.

I am confident with the players we have selected we can go to the US and be competitive in the tournament.
