We asked Sky Sportsreaders to pick their England XI to face Malta in their crucial World Cup qualifier on Friday. The results are in...

With so many top goalkeepers at Gareth Southgate's disposal, the debate about who should be England's No 1 has come to the fore ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, but Sky Sports readers had little doubt as to who they think should be between the sticks.

Jack Butland received over three times as many votes as Joe Hart, with fans seemingly unconvinced by Hart's start to life back in the Premier League with West Ham.

Having conceded just two goals so far this season, a run which included a six-save display against Arsenal, Butland has impressed on his return from a long injury lay off, and fans feel such form should be rewarded by Southgate.

There is no place for Phil Jones, despite his solid start to the season, while John Stones received a low number of votes. Michael Keane and Gary Cahiill get the nod in defence.

There is plenty of pace in the side with Raheem Sterling and Liverpool new boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handed starting berths, with Jordan Henderson deployed as the midfield anchor. Dele Alli led the way in the voting for midfield options.

Up front, it was very much a two-horse race from the off, with Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford never really troubled by their nearest challenger - Jamie Vardy - whose heroics against Arsenal have been overlooked.
