Bevington elevation announced by FA

Adrian Bevington will take up his new post as Club England managing director with immediate effect, the Football Association has confirmed. Bevington, who has spent 15 years with the FA, will help steady the organisation following the controversy of chairman Lord Triesman's exit. General secretary Alex Horne was appointed in his new position at an FA board meeting last week, while Roger Burden was named interim chairman. Bevington, who will merge his new role with his current one as the FA's director of communications until after the World Cup, will feature in the delegation that will travel to South Africa later this week to stress to Fabio Capello how much they want him to stay on as England manager.

New role

"Adrian has been fulfilling the role of Club England MD for several months now, so it makes sense to formalise the role as the team head to the World Cup," said Horne. "Adrian's key immediate focus is on supporting the senior team in South Africa. "Longer term, I am delighted that Adrian will be leading this new area, pooling our resources to make sure all our national teams are well supported in their match preparations." Julian Eccles will replace Bevington in his former role, joining the FA as director of marketing and communications on 1st June.
