Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez insists England have a side to be feared.

Tabarez is set to make a raft of changes to his side with up to four new players coming in for the crunch clash with England in Sao Paulo on Thursday, after their shock opening defeat by Costa Rica.

Tabarez was not happy with his side after their loss, but he thinks England played well in losing to Italy.

“We are going to change everything. We need to win, so do England," said Tabarez.

“We have to change our attitude and put different measures in place. And we are aware of that. England were unlucky against Italy.

“Their attackers are very powerful. They have a lot of young players with great potential.

“They are very fast and make quick decisions - they get into the right areas. We will have to look to limit that.”

Tabarez insists that England captain Steven Gerrard remains the key to the Three Lions side.

“He is a player we cannot neglect. Gerrard is the thermometer of English football," he said.

“We have to be aware of his power and control it.

“We must position ourselves correctly on the pitch and watch all the big players.”
