Anna Signeul has named the Scotland Women's squad for their first ever appearance at a European Championships.

Scotland have named a 22-strong squad for UEFA Women's Euro 2017 but Manchester City defender Jennifer Beattie misses the tournament through injury.

Manchester City Women tweeted ahead of Tuesday's squad announcement that Beattie has suffered a right ankle injury, wishing her a speedy recovery.

But the 26-year-old will not be ready in time for this summer's tournament in the Netherlands, with Scotland already missing influential Arsenal Ladies midfielder Kim Little.

Beattie's City team-mate Jane Ross is one of three FA Women's Super League 1 players in Scotland's travelling party. The striker is joined in Anna Signeul's squad by Livepool's Caroline Weir and Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert.

There are eight Scottish-based players in the squad including uncapped Glasgow City goalkeeper Lee Alexander.

Scotland, who will take part in their first major international tournament, have been drawn to play in Group D and face England in their opener on July 19 in Utrecht.
