Aaron Ramsey described Wales' qualification for Euro 2016 as a great moment for football in the country.
Despite losing 2-0 away to Bosnia & Herzegovina, Wales booked their ticket to a first major tournament since the 1958 World Cup, with Israel's defeat to Cyprus confirming their passage to France next year.
It has been a remarkable campaign for Wales and, speaking after the game, Arsenal midfielder Ramsey told Sky Sports: "What a great moment for Welsh football.
"What an achievement to make history. We are finally going to a major tournament. It's not going to sink in for a while.
"I'm just so proud personally and for all my team-mates. For everyone associated with the country we are finally going."
Wales now head into their final qualification game against Andorra in Cardiff in high spirits and looking to cap off their successful campaign with one final victory.
And Ramsey has praised the squad's unity throughout the duration of the qualification campaign, illustrated during their defeat to Bosnia, adding: "This group of players is quite special because of the togetherness.
"It didn't quite happen tonight but we still wanted to get the ball down and try to play. Two set pieces done us in the end.
"However, the togetherness made us really difficult to beat. We are now just looking forward to going and playing in a major tournament.
"This has been a dream of mine to try and get Wales to a major tournament. I know for some of the other players it has been the same and we are finally doing it. To fulfil our dream, I'm over the moon."
