Cardiff's loan star to have a big part to play for his country under caretaker coach

Wales caretaker boss Brian Flynn believes Craig Bellamy will be absolutely key to his side's bid to kick-start their faltering Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. John Toshack left his post earlier this month after deciding he could take his country no further, leaving Flynn with the task of leading Wales into next month's qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland. Bellamy, on-loan at Cardiff City for the season from parent club Manchester City, is still to learn whether he will keep the captain's armband given to him by Toshack. Flynn is remaining tight-lipped on who his skipper will be but admits Bellamy is the man he will look to spearhead Wales' campaign. "I will make a decision (on the captain) when we come into camp," said Flynn. "I have my ideas and I have my thoughts, and I will discuss it with people who matter. He (Bellamy) is a fantastic player. "Wales must have Craig Bellamy playing. If we are to get results, he is more than an integral part of that." Welsh duo Ryan Giggs and Chris Coleman are among those who have been linked with the full-time Wales job, vacated by Toshack following a 1-0 defeat against Montenegro. Flynn, though, is keen to take the job on a permanent basis and insists he will thrive rather than crumble under the pressure. "People talk about pressure, but it is a pleasure dealing with elite international footballers and working with them," he added. "I feel I have been given an opportunity to show what I can do, and that is fantastic as far as I am concerned. "I've got two games more than anyone else, so I have got a bit of a start. It is something I know I can do well - I have been working towards this for six years."
