Niall Quinn says that Bosnia are there for the taking for the Republic of Ireland on Monday night after the first leg finished 1-1

Niall Quinn has urged the Republic of Ireland to 'own the game' when they take on Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second leg of their Euro 2016 play-off on Monday.

Martin O'Neill's men earned a 1-1 draw in the away leg on Friday and Quinn felt the performance of Bosnia-Herzegovina means that there is every reason for the Irish to be confident going into the return leg in Dublin.

"Bosnia have to improve a hell of a lot to overcome Ireland in the Aviva on Monday night," he said.

"Ireland have a natural way of playing. They showed a different way of playing against Germany [in a 1-0 win in October], I don't think it'll be that kind of night, I think it'll be different.

"I think they'll be a little bit more confident, I expect [Robbie] Brady and others who have this good feeling to just carry on business as usual, feeling that positivity that is in the camp.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill was very pleased with his side's 1-1 draw against Bosnia in very difficult weather conditions

"There is nothing to fear, they have to show serious respect and do their jobs and not be sloppy but there is an opportunity to play better football, to take the game to this lot and to own the game. They can do that."

Quinn also stated his belief that Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan could be key at the Aviva Stadium in what is likely to be a more open game.

"I think it'll suit Ireland really well on Monday because the fact of the matter is that Bosnia have to score a goal," he added.

"If there's space, with that crowd behind them and a more positive approach, the surge forward of Ireland players then Wes Hoolahan could really go to town, if he gets a start.

"You have a happy squad now going into the game and Ireland have a big chance. I think this game is here for the taking for Ireland. I don't think it'll be a nervy encounter."
