Ballack wins Germany recall

Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed that Michael Ballack will play against Poland.

Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed that Michael Ballack will return for Germany's second Group A clash.

The hosts kicked off the World Cup with an impressive attacking display in putting Costa Rica to the sword 4-2.

There had been pre-match speculation that Ballack and Klinsmann had fallen out after the former announced in a German tabloid that he was fit to play after recovering from a calf injury.

Klinsmann declined to concur with the Chelsea new boy and left him out of his starting line-up, but he has now confirmed the talented schemer will play on Wednesday against Poland.

"Michael will play in the second game," Klinsmann said. "You can take that for granted."
