Andres Iniesta is not thinking about the possibility of being named Euro 2012's best player and only wants to help Spain beat Italy in Sunday's final.
Andrea Pirlo is considered the favourite to be named player of the tournament but Iniesta has also performed well and could land the award if he makes a decisive contribution in Kiev.
However, Iniesta maintains that he is not concerned with such individual matters and the only thing on his mind is the success of the team.
He said: "I've never thought about playing for personal credit. I do not think I am the most valuable player. I feel that what will make me happy is to lift the trophy.
"In football everything is relative - it does not matter who stars and who does not.
"Claudio Marchisio has had a good tournament, Pirlo also. I do not know who the MVP should be and I really do not care."
Responsibility
Despite Iniesta's modesty he is now Spain's 'reference point', according to team-mate Cesc Fabregas.
"He's a source of immense confidence for us," Fabregas said. "During matches you can see him taking on more and more responsibility.
"He's creative, he runs with the ball, he's got a brilliant final pass and with each passing year he's become more of a goalscorer as well as a provider."
