Scolari: Win will please fans

BRAZIL coach Luis Felipe Scolari was happy to get his side's World Cup campaign off to a winning start.

The four-times winners came from a goal behind at half-time to take all three points courtesy of goals from Ronaldo and Rivaldo.

Scolari, who has come in for a lot of criticism from people back in Brazil, was sure that the win would have pleased their supporters and he is confident that his side can go far in the tournament.

"I'm sure the people of Brazil are glad and this will help us to go forward," said Scolari.

Scolari is now looking forward to the next game with China next Saturday and he does not feel he has to change much to his side.

"The final touch - the rest is quite easy to fix."

"China have good potential and we will start our preparation after one day of relaxation."

The Brazil coach also revealed that he took off Ronaldo 17 minutes from time because the Internazionale ace was tired after an impressive performance.

"He gave us what we expected from him and I took him off because he was tired."

Meanwhile, Rivaldo has admitted his relief at coming from behind to win their opening game.

Rivaldo was lucky to escape punishment himself in the incident which saw Hakan Unsal sent off, going down clutching his face when the ball hit him on the legs.

"I am relieved we came from behind to win the match because when Turkey took the lead I was a bit worried," said Rivaldo.
