Second-half goals from Lucas and Neymar saw Brazil defeat Argentina 2-0 in Belem to win the Superclasico de las Americas.
The first leg of this friendly encounter finished in a goalless draw in Argentina a fortnight ago, and it took 54 minutes in the return leg for the first goal to arrive.
19-year-old Lucas gave the hosts the lead when he galloped away on a quick counter-attacking move and slotted the ball past Argentina goalkeeper Agustin Orion.
Brazil doubled their advantage in the 75th minute through Neymar, as the Santos playmaker bundled in a Diego Souza cross from the left flank from close range.
After the match, Neymar expressed his delight with the support from the Brazil supporters even during a friendly match.
"They were wonderful," he told
Globoesporte.com. "They cheered since the national anthem.
"I think even the Argentines were shocked. We tried to pay back all the love they brought to us."
Not easy
Argentina defender Leandro Desabato added his thoughts on the game and told
Telefe TV: "Brazil played very well.
"In the second half we made the game even. With a counter-attack, they won the game. We are happy with the second half.
"Playing this way is not easy, as in Argentina we've been playing games in three or four days."
Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella remarked: "In the second half, we had more opportunities than Brazil.
"In the first half, they played much better. Over the 180 minutes, Brazil won deservedly."
