Swiss champions Basel sign Eder Balanta

Swiss side FC Basel have signed Colombia international Eder Álvarez Balanta on a four-year deal.
Balanta, 23, joins champions Basel from Argentinian side River Plate.
The defender has six caps for Colombia and was part of their World Cup squad in 2014, where he played in the group match against Japan.
Balanta was unveiled by Basel at their stadium, St. Jakob-Park, and the club revealed on their website that he would join the rest of the squad at their pre-season training camp in the Swiss Alps.
The centre-back spent three years at River where he won the Copa Libertadores in 2015. Serie A side Inter Milan and Spanish champions Barcelona were reportedly interested in the player in 2013 but a transfer didn't materialise.
Basel will be aiming for their eighth consecutive Swiss Super League title when they kick off the season at home to Sion on July 24th.
