Vassell, meanwhile, turned out for Aston Villa, Man City, Ankaragucu and Leicester between 1998 and 2012 and the forward was also capped 22 times by England in a two-year international career, during which time he scored six goals for his country.
The Englishman has selected Mark Bosnich between the posts, with Rio Ferdinand at the heart of his defence, Gareth Barry in the middle of the park and Andrew Cole as part of a two-man front line in an old school 4-4-2.
