Stadium could be renamed in honour of former Imps boss

Keith Alexander's son has thrown his support behind a bid to rename Lincoln's stadium in honour of his late father. Alexander, who died in March 2010 at the age of 53, is highly thought of in Lincoln after two successful spells at the club as manager. Alexander, who was the first full-time black professional manager in the Football League, led Lincoln to four consecutive play-off appearances in League Two from the 2002-3 campaign through to 2006-7. Lincoln have launched a prize draw offering the naming rights of Sincil Bank for the 2012/13 season to the winner and Matt Alexander, who is the chief scout at Notts County, has entered the draw to try and rename the stadium in memory of his father's achievements with the club.

Honour

"I think it would be a great way to honour my dad to rename the stadium after him," Alexander told skysports.com. "It would be a fitting tribute after all that he achieved with the club. "I have entered the draw and I know a lot of fans would support the idea of renaming the stadium after my father. "I still live in Lincoln and I know how well thought of my father is at the club and he loved his time in charge there. "I have had a lot of support to name the stadium after my father and the support of the fans means a lot to me."
