The New York Red Bulls knocked neighbours New York City off top spot of Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference on Saturday night.
The day after City moved to the top of the table with a win in Houston, the Red Bulls regained pole position with a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia Union.
Fabian Herbers gave the visitors a 15th-minute lead but goals in quick succession either side of half-time from Sacha Kljestan and Golden Boot hopeful Bradley Wright-Phillips turned things around.
Although Chris Pontius levelled for Union, Dax McCarty grabbed the winner for the Red Bulls midway through the second half.
Toronto FC wasted the chance to regain top spot as they slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against in-form DC United.
Jozy Altidore gave Toronto a 36th-minute lead as they sought to record a first win in four matches.
However, Lamar Neagle soon levelled and the same player was on target in the second half to give United a third successive victory, lifting them to fourth and improving their hopes of a top-six finish.
New England Revolution kept in the hunt to extend their season with a 3-1 success over Sporting Kansas City. Kevin Ellis' own goal and a further goal from Juan Agudelo settled matters in the last 15 minutes, after City's Dominic Dwyer had cancelled out Kei Kamara's early effort.
Columbus Crew were too strong for Chicago Fire, winning 3-0 with goals from Harrison Afful, Justin Meram and Dilly Duka.
The Western Conference's top two teams, FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids, were both winners on Saturday night.
Walker Zimmerman's 40th minute proved enough to give pacesetters Dallas victory over LA Galaxy, while Sebastien Le Toux scored in the 63rd minute to settle the Rapids' home game against the Portland Timbers.
Saturday's final match saw the San Jose Earthquakes snap a seven-game winless streak with a 2-1 home win over Western Conference rivals Real Salt Lake.
Simon Dawkins and Fatai Alashe scored either side of Justen Glad's first half goal for the visitors, who are now without a win in five.
