Bastian Schweinsteiger scored one and set up the other two as Chicago Fire beat New England Revolution 3-0 on Saturday.
The World Cup winner grabbed his second goal in three matches as his impressive start to life in the MLS continued after arriving from Manchester United in March.
Schweinsteiger fired in from a tight angle just before half-time, before laying on two goals for Nemanja Nikolic in the second half.
Chicago have now won two and drawn one since the 32-year-old arrived and sit second in the Eastern Conference.
The side above them, Orlando City, stay top thanks to Cyle Larin's last-minute winner against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The Galaxy looked to be heading for a point when Romain Alessandrini cancelled out Will Johnson's early strike with seven minutes remaining, but were denied in stoppage time.
Kenwyne Jones scored for Atlanta United but could not prevent them slipping to a 2-1 defeat against the Montreal Impact.
Jones netted five minutes before half-time but on the stroke of the interval Leandro Gonzalez Pirez was sent off and Ignacio Piatti levelled with the subsequent penalty, before Anthony Jackson-Hamel won it late on.
Alex Muyl and Bradley Wright-Phillips scored as New York Red Bulls beat DC United 2-0 to end a four-game winless streak.
Muyl opened the scoring just seconds into the second half, heading home a corner by Sacha Kljestan.
Wright-Phillips perfectly timed his run, took a pass from Felipe Martins near the right corner of the six-yard box and fired it through the legs of Bill Hamid in the 62nd minute.
Dom Dwyer scored in the 53rd minute as undefeated Sporting Kansas City won their first away game this season, beating Portland Timbers 1-0.
Columbus Crew beat Toronto FC 2-1 thanks to goals from Justin Meram and Ola Kamara while Minnesota United came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Houston Dynamo.
Mauro Manotas opened the scoring in the 14th minute and a goal by Alberth Elis gave Houston a 2-0 lead heading into half-time.
But Christian Ramirez headed in from a corner before Johan Venegas levelled in the 59th minute.
Yura Movsisyan and Brooks Lennon scored late goals as Real Salt Lake rallied to beat Colorado Rapids 2-1.
Kevin Doyle opened the scoring for the Rapids in the 29th minute, but after Jared Watts was sent off, Salt Lake snatched victory.
